Archie Goodwin + Star Wars – From the Vault
You may think you know everything there is to know about Star Wars; but, we bet you didn’t know about the guy from Tulsa, Oklahoma who took a chance on an unknown sci-fi movie and saved Marvel Comics! Oklahoma-native Archie Goodwin wrote over 30 issues of Marvel’s “Star Wars” comic series. He also wrote the “The Empire Strikes Back” and the “Return of the Jedi” comic adaptations. Archie and Al Williamson took over the “Star Wars” syndicated newspaper strip after the original creator, Russ Manning, passed away. On this strip, Archie and Al began writing story arcs that bridged the gap between “A New Hope” and “The Empire Strikes Back.”
